Four More Years, Civil War II, and Our Walmart Masters

I’ve chosen to write about the results of the presidential election over a week after Super Tuesday when all the dust has settled and no one cares anymore…which, I guess as a writer trying to build buzz, isn’t a great move. Really I’m just glad it’s all over and as far as Barack Obama winning, sure, why not?

Of course, it was actually extremely important that Obama won because that’s what I predicted in my novel about the future, Dystopia. If Romney would have won, I would have had to go back and change a large section of the novel. As it stands now, everything I predicted over a year ago has happened. Obama won reelection and the two-party system is quickly pushing us toward Civil War II (Can’t we just let Texas secede? Would anyone really miss them?).

In case you’re wondering what the future holds for America, here’s what’s going to happen:

2012: Obama wins reelection

2016: Republicans take control of the White House and Congress

2024: The Second Recession hits

2032: America goes bankrupt

2039: China calls in America’s debt. Unable to pay it, America becomes a Chinese colony

2048: Walmart, the only Big Business left standing after years of Chinese rule, buys the country back from America

2050: Walmart disbands the government and puts a corporatocracy in charge of the country

2076: A cyber-plague wipes out 99% of America’s population after humans start implanting iPhones into the palms of their hands

So that’s what we have to look forward to. I was right about Obama so I have to assume I’ll be correct about everything else. There’s not much we can do to avoid our bleak future so we might as well sit back and enjoy the show.

Just try to act surprised when Walmart takes over.

  1. You missed the obvious outcome from the premise you put forth, as far as you took it. Once Wal-Mart took over the country, in order to protect their stock holders and their greed driven corporate officers, they started killing off the part of the population that did not patronize their stores, thus eliminating whatever competition was left by eliminating the patrons for their competitiors. This snowballed to the point that eventually they started killing off the percentage of their own patrons that were at the bottom of the buying curve. And so on and so forth until they eventually effected their own profit margins and this is what eventually destroys the world.
